The year ahead for ABSIA

Early March, Ian Gibson hosted the Australian Business Software Industry Association (ABSIA) planning day at the SuperChoice offices.

Here’s a wrap up of what you can expect to see over the coming year.

1. Adoption of the Pan-European Public Procurement (PEPPOL) framework and standards

It was recently announced by the Government that Australia and New Zealand would be adopting the PEPPOL interoperability framework.

ABSIA believes the move to PEPPOL standards is a good outcome for our industry given the opportunities it presents for local software developers to export our technology and the similarities between the DBC and PEPPOL standards.

2. Attending the ATO e-invoicing Forum in April

The ATO are hosting a PEPPOL e-Invoicing Engagement Forum on 10 April 2019 at Rydges Sydney Central. This is an opportunity for the industry to come and learn the PEPPOL essentials so that you can start your e-Invoicing design and build.

You will hear from PEPPOL, Government and industry experts, including ABSIA, about: • The Government's e-Invoicing direction • The steps to becoming PEPPOL compliant • PEPPOL experiences, what DSPs are doing to get ready and lessons learnt.

3. Support of the Government’s Go Digital Initiative for small businesses

ABSIA will be part of a working committee with the yet to be appointed NGO tasked with implementing Go-Digital. Our goal as a committee member will be to share our expertise and industry knowledge to contribute to the creation of a set of digital best practice guides.

For more information, head on over the ABSIA website.
